FANCY!
I have never gone somewhere as fancy in my life. This is the type of place you see in movies. It had the table cloth and everything. Most definitely not an Olive Garden.
I'm not cracking on Olive Garden. I just use them as an example because before this place. Olive Garden was my definition of fancy. It's a very fancy restaurant BUT I never would have guessed. My parents drove up to a kind of crummy looking condos. |
Definitely NOT Crummy
Here is a little history and info on the place. The restaurant is on the 29th floor of this building. Basically its at the very top. It is in Daytona Beach, but if you're a tourist you wont consider this part Daytona because its more on the outskirts.
It opened in 1974 and apparently is 'a favorite for musicians and famous film actors'. (as the website says) The fancy restaurant and lounge was also featured in 1990 film "Days Of Thunder" starring Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman.
Top of Daytona is 365 feet above ocean level with a 360- degree view of the shore and the Halifax River. Try to sit on the North side for a view of the sunset.
The cons to this place is the prices. Of course a fancy place like this is not going to have Olive Garden prices. Lets just say that the waiter got a $40 tip because that was the accurate bill-tip ratio. This is a places that a family of four needs to have $200+ in their pockets. My only other complaint is that making a reservation as apparently a pain.
Their website has it to how you can email one but there are no times. You can all but no one answers or calls you back making you having no choice but to call back 2-3 more times. I guess the fancy restaurant at the peak of a crummy condos wants to stay hidden.
Oh yeah. One more tidbit. As fancy as the restaurant is the people that live in the condos come up a lot and don't dress the way you should. It was not a place to wear jeans and flip flops. But the locals wearing those did make it seems off. You had the class and the trash. Guess you really do have that everywhere.

I check YES!
If you want to go on a really nice date for two, and if you have the funds, I do recommend going here. I personally wish my husband was here. I think that he would of liked it. I could have had just the appetizers personally because those themselves were good. Anyone traveling to Daytona Beach, Florida should check it out. If you have the money and can make the reservation of course.
